The Christine

Now that Christmas is over, I can share some of the pieces that I made as gifts!

One, in particular, I want to share because it is a debut of a new design feature. Take a close look at the lining.

Using the same Wickett & Craig English Bridle in tan as I did in the Moonrise, the Christine is a sister bag in many ways. First, and most importantly, it was designed for my sister-in-law. But the hardware, size and feel of the bag is very similar to the Moonrise, which was made using a pattern from the very talented Hemlock and Hyde company. The design alteration came in two main ways. First, the shape needed to be a bit more square and second, it needed a liner.

The Christine is also the first bag made using our new sewing machine, so the stitching is slightly different than the Moonrise. See if you can even tell!

The lining is acrylic on canvas, and was painted by another sister-in-law of mine, adding yet another reason for me to call it a sister bag. Rachel is the pour artist of the clan, and she found a coating to cover her art with such that it will not stick to or bond with any items placed in the bag. It adds a personal and 100% unique touch to each bag.

What homemade Christmas gifts are you proud of this year?
